Painting 1B Independent Project Exhibition
Spring 2021
The exhibition Home-Grown Arts , showcases submitted independent painting projects by the students of the Painting 1B Sections in Spring 2021. These works are the cumulative result of two semesters of painting instruction at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. The two terms focus on exposing the students to a variety of painting techniques, art historical movements, contemporary artists, and concepts through painting assignments.
The only requirement for the independent painting project is that it must be a series of three large paintings. Otherwise the works represent what each student is most excited to explore in the medium of painting. It is thrilling for us as instructors, to see how each artist’s work has built to this independent body of work.
The work included in this exhibition was developed through remote instruction during the Covid Pandemic. It is our pleasure as their instructors to share the results of our students' hard work, grit and creativity during this difficult time. While facing their own unique situations, each student persevered to challenge and grow their painting practice. We were amazed with our students' capacity to persevere and to learn during this time of remote instruction.
We’re pleased to present the following students' works and to be a small part of their journeys as painters.
